EFFECT OF SALT CONCENTRATION ON stump spud CELLS
Aim: The aim was to investigate how salt parsimony affects osmosis in potato cells.
To reach a conclusion, i followed the method which was demanded in the handout supplied by the teacher. What followed was collecting the data from different groups to perplex more values. After that, I organised the data and began my calculations which I divided into different steps to train it more comprehensible.
look 1
- Organization of data gained from my investigation as well as the different groups into tables for better orientation
- Mass is in Grams, M = preoccupancy (NaCl + H2O)
grade 2
- Calculate the difference among the mass in front and after for every level of concentration (M) and for every group
- (mass beforehand mass after)
- Values are in grams
STEP 3
- I took the results from step 2 and rearranged them based on the levels of salt concentration so I tin later use it to make an median(a) of the values in order to make a graph
STEP 4
- In this step I calculated the average values from the values gained in step 3-
-E.g.: (-0.55+(-0.2)+(-0.34)+(-0.39)+(-0.49)+(-0.
51)) /6
STEP 5
- Making a graph from the values gained in tonicity 4
- X axis = NaCl concentration
- Y axis = difference between mass before and after
Weaknesses of my investigation:
- Potato age and species
- confused potato rectangle sizes
- Temperature of water
- Amount and concentration of water
Conclusion:
From the graph we can see that NaCl concentration does effect osmosis. The Before-After difference increases with concentration until the conc. of 0,8M (0,67g) is reached from there it began to decrease until it reached 1M (0,37).
If I were to repeat this investigation, I would try to fade most of the weaknesses as possible and opt to do it in a more stable environment. I would control the water...If you fate to get a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
