Fredrick Douglass

In the Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass the speaker happens to be Fredrick Douglass himself. He plays two characters in the book; and the oppressed slave inquisitive for freedom and the narrator. The story takes place from his birth (1818) to 1841. There argon many places where actions occurs but the main places are Talbot County, Maryland. He past moves to Baltimore when hes 10 or 11 to equal with Hugh and Sophia Auld. He was then directed by Mr. Ruggles he then took his house with his wife in New Bedford. A large transition in tone took place when Douglass to a stand for himself and all other slaves and beat up his slave owner at the time. This was the piece when he evolved into a man and gained his identity back. Douglasss choices of words were very thought and formal. He made sure not to let too much out on how he made his way to New York to make sure that slave owners and everyone who was for slavery wouldnt phase out his routes and tactics. Douglass made sure to use very descriptive words to characterize each beating/whipping of a slave he encountered.
