Twelve Step Meetings

T. K. Twelve Step Meetings On 8/26/2009 I attended an Alcoholic Anonymous meeting located at Rainbow Fellowship, 143 South California in Stockton. The meeting lasted an hour from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The experience was positive and very educational. Before attendance the meeting, my perception of what the meeting would be like was different from the authentic event. Prior to attending the meeting, I was pretty anxious active what the meeting was handout to be like. I had pictured the the great unwashed attending the meeting to be unkempt, poorly dressed, street speaker system drunks who were forced to be there by the court or family that have disowned them. I pictured the room to be filthy, disorganized, and olfactory perception of alcohol. I was definitely surprised how wrong my expectation was compared to the real reality of the people attending. The people attending the meeting were gelid from what I had pictured. For one, people that attended the meeting were not only forced to be there but wanted to be there to help themselves as wellspring as others with their sobriety. They were well dressed, friendly, and welcoming to the visitor that was attending. The meeting was mostly attended by men rather than women. The room where the meeting was held was different than I pictured.
