Before this assignment, I was never extremely concerned to the highest degree the environment. Of course I have always sorted my nut from recycling, but be behave I was unaware of the threats posed and destruction fortuity in the bigger picture, I was never commensurate to parcel out any follow out to fix it. Since looking an eco activist and also interviewing one, I have become to a greater extent environmentally conscience.
For my eco activist research assignment, I researched Julia Butterfly (Hill). Butterfly joined an environmental cause that opposed the destruction of the redwood forests in Humboldt County, California. She lived in a redwood shoetree that was being threatened to be undercut down by the Pacific Lumber Company for closely two and a half years! She refused to move from the tree and because of this a resolution was reached in 1999 to redwoods in a two hundred foot buffer zone. Her determination was inspiring; Butterfly risked her lifespan to keep redwood trees alive. I was not sure if I could do anything this drastic and time consuming, but I was able to plant a variety of flowers in my yard. Though this action may not have been the most environmentally helpful, I believe that what I have done will be able to improve the overall atmosphere of my property.
Because flowers are so beautiful and full of life, I cipher that by lay them others can see how beautiful nature is and how important it is to keep back the environment.
For my interview, I talked with John Reynolds. Reynolds started a composting and garbage sorting platform at Oak Grove Elementary. After interviewing him, I instantly started a compost pile at my home. I think composting is important because it can drastically reduce the amount of suck a person sends to a landfill. I hope that more people start composting projects in their communities!
