Judy

In this short story, Judy Jones is the antagonist because she is in constant combat with the protagonist, Dexter Green. Throughout the course of the story, Judy uses her charm and beauty to parry Dexter, in order to get what she wants from him. However, Judy does not want a committed relationship, but rather and quick fling in which she will not develop feelings. Judys lack of sensation withal carrys tension among the two because Dexters broad feelings for her are not mutual. Judy depends on the attention of male suitors to bring meaning to her life, which confuses and upsets Dexter. He doesnt understand why Judy cannot clean be happy with him. Judy states, Do you mind if I squall a little? This quote tells us that Judy is so jailed up in herself that she constantly needs someone to every notice her or feel sorry for her. This is an example of Judy faking emotion to play with Dexters mind.
Throughout the story, F. Scott Fitzgerald continuously handstions Judys beauty by describing the uniqueness of her facial features and the elegance of her clothing. Fitzgerald also develops Judys character through her confidence. She is luxurianty aware of her gorgeous exterior and is determined to use her good looks to her advantage. Judys agency leads her to unhealthy goals in life.



One of these goals is to make many men conscious of her. Because of her many personality traits, descriptions, and constant conflict, Judy is a meter character.
Whatever Judy wants, she goes after while using her charm as a weapon. She has no limits of what she will do or express to make a man fall in turn in with her. Judy states, I dont know whats the progeny with me. Last night I thought I was in love with a man and tonight I view Im in love with you. As Judy says this she rests her question on Dexters shoulder to make him appreciate that her statement is genuine.
