Socrates was a Greek philosopher born in 469 B.C.E. and is considered one of the most influential philosophers in history. He was born the son of a rock music mason and sculptor. Socrates was a religious man (not in the handed-down Christian sense) and he had a strong respect for Athenian religious customs. While many regarded Socrates as a wise man, he himself concurred this to be true not because he felt he was indeed wiser, but because he himself could recognize his own ignorance while his fellow peers could not jaw their faults.
