I have in mind you can tell a lot about a person just by the way they listen to others and what style of listening that they use, and its really evoke to me how many distinct styles and concepts of listening that there are, and how different men and women listen. I found out some interesting things about myself when it comes to how I listen to others and also about how others close to me listen to others.
I started off by taking the Self Quiz: Discover Your Listening Styles on page 165, and I scored the highest as being a People-Oriented Listener, and I also scored very high as being a Content-Oriented Listener.
I can see how I am concerned about other peoples emotions and I think I demonstrate empathy when listening to others, I also like to hear the facts and evidence before I can evaluate the situation and I do look a lot of questions to gather information and enjoy listening to complex information. I thought just for fun I would ask my husband to take the quiz to and he scored the highest as being an Action-Oriented Listener total opposite of me. My husband is endlessly getting impatient when I go into to more breaker point when Im telling him something, and he very much focuss on errors and, he admitted that when someone is public lecture that in his mind hes always bound ahead while listening to the person talk.
I bemuse noticed that I have a hard fourth dimension talking to my son at times and I think I know why our listening styles are in all different.
