Abstract
Annie John is a narrative falsehood; narrated by the main character Annie John. She tells the tale of her transition from a child worry child at ten years old to a teen be onr at seventeen. She faces many troubles that could cripple a three-year-old person but moves on from those plosives in her life not fully understanding them. All of these situations have a multiply effect on her mental state leading to a recurring depression. This is not just a coming of age tale but how a young girl bed fall into a troublesome state that will sure recur throughout her life.
Title
Throughout Annie John, Annie is going through the stages of adolescent, like learning to be her own person. In the beginning of the book, Annie is truly close to her mother. During the summers, she describes herself to be almost like a overshadow to her mother: they did everything together. Her mother eventually puts distance between her and Annie. not allowing Annie to get a dress made of the same somatic as her own, for example, is a major turning point; in Annies eyes she sees that her mother does not want Annie to be just like her. Which in turn crushes her because at this point in her life, Anne wants to do just that.
This story is considered a classifiable coming of age story also know as bildingsroman. However, I believe it to be more of a story of a girl going through a puerility depression and ultimately a recurring depression.
Method
First, I commemorate Annie John. Then, in class we discussed the book and topics to write about. Afterwards, I went to the library to research topics. I then emailed myself several papers I could refer to. Began the report process, writers block interfered with the writing process. I researched more information on depression at home. I finished paper, unsure of my writing.
